From Media Without Mask website: Lula's Minister of Economy is the extra-official Colombia's terrorist group representative in Brazil!

In a sensational article, Heitor de Paola, one of the most prolificous editors from Media Without Mask website in Brazil, has revealed a true atomic bomb: Antonio Palocci, Lula's 2002 campaign chief and now the almighty minister of economy is in fact the extra-official representative of FARC (major drug-dealing-terrorist group in Colombia) interests in Brazil.
He created a pro-Farc committee in 2002 when he was the mayor of the city of Ribeirao Preto. Heitor has found this news that was published only in the local newspapers NINE MONTHS after the fact, when Palocci was already in charge of Lula da Silva campaign that year. The information was totally hidden from a larger audience since that time, surviving only as a rumour. Now , when the Cuba-Lula affair has put Palocci under fire, that it emerged again. Today in Brazil thereś no condition to make an armed revolution, but not in Colombia. They (FARC) have an organized military.

Palocci and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva were not found to speak about the episode yesterday. The committee will gather pro-Farc signatures and will defend the Farc's arguments around Brazil. During the launching a guerilla's activist will be present. 'We need to speak out and to launch Farc's committees all around the world to denounce the problems that occurred in that country', said Beto Cangussú (PT) - on of the founders.

To 'seal the deal', there was a meeting in Ribeirao Preto joining Paulino and Oliverio Medina - the unofficial Farc's spokenperson in Brazil, that even was got caught in 2000, accused from terrorist activities by Colombian government (note: Medina is under arrest right now in Brazil , on a eve of his expulsion to Colombia)."

The first part is history by now. Deputy Roberto Jefferson denounced half-cabinet of Lula da Silva of being part of a huge corruption scheme based on purchasing support for government on deputy's house.

But now it's different. There's nothing to do with internal corruption. We are talking about a foreign help and intromission in Brazil's affairs.

Dollars in beverage boxes went to Brasilia (capital) and Campinas (main city of São Paulo state) before reached the Lula's electoral committee in São Paulo. Two former Minister Palocci (economy) auxiliary, assured the story to VEJA. Rogério Buratti and Vladimir Poleto, that transported the money from Brasilia to Campinas in a "Seneca" plane. The great interrogation not answered yet about the corruption scandal that involved PT( Worker 's Party) is what is the source of the money that boosted the hidden PT's safe?
This is the question that intrigues the parliamentary commissions and the police investigations. It can be that the PT's forbidden funds came from just one source, but is likely that it origined from various sources.

One of the Veja's investigations , that started four weeks ago, led to Fidel's island: Cuba. Yes. Cuba, where the money is scarce even to buy a door or to put water filter on schools, sent a money avalanche to help Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's presidential campaign in 2002. Details.

Between august and September of 2002 Lula's electoral committee received three million dollars that came from Cuba. The money was guarded by a Cuban named Sérgio Cervantes, known as diplomat in Rio and Brasilia.
From Brasilia, the money was led to Campinas by plane, in three beverage boxes (two boxes of Johnnie Walker whiskey and one box of Cuban Run). The person that took the money was Vladimir Poleto, an economist and former Palocci's auxiliary when he was Ribeirão Preto's Mayor.
In Campinas, the money was taken at the Viracopos airport by Ralf Barquete, another former Palocci's auxiliary from Ribeirão Preto. Barquete came on a blinded black Omega (GM's model), driven by Eder Eustaquio Soares Macedo. From Viracopos, they went to São Paulo (capital) to deliver the boxes at Lula's electoral committee, to PT's cashier Delubio Soares."

Another news tell that Sergio Cervantes, the presumed Cuban agent that guarded the money in Brazil, flew back to Cuba in a hurry two days after "Veja" published its story.

But, despite these huge evidences, public is being mislead by the mainstream media that still support Lula: they all blame "Veja" as doing bad journalism and to accuse 'without proof".

But what is the core of "good journalism"? To publish the facts described by "Veja" in a almost ashamed way, only reprinting the text in internal pages while Cuba´s official denying is published in bolder letters on first page ?

This is the kind of press we have here.

"Veja" made good journalism. They described facts, names and dates.
It´s all a smoke curtain to avoid the media – specially the press – to show what´s going on in the basement of Lula´s government.
Today it´s the fifth day after "Veja" has published the subject and all I hear is people blaming the magazine, not the government!!
They try to make believe that´s all lies. That Lula is a candid & naive president, that he and his party are the impersonation of "ethic in politics".

But there are discordant voices:

"The reaction to "Veja" talk more about the degradation of politics and the ideological serfdoom that we are being trampled than only corruption itself. In essence, it´s a matter of recognize that there are groups , that consider themselves as being above (and they MUST BE above) any kind of suspect, that the news that put them under disapproval of the public only worth if it has an official administrative act as a proof of evidence"

Another gunshot was provided by philosopher Olavo de Carvalho:

"Crime is not to denounce without final proof : crime is to demand final proof from the start to avoid that they could be found at the end of the process. This procedure is as much intolerable as you see that it comes from the same individuals and groups that, having promoted former president Collor´s impeachment in a hurry without waiting the justice to find the proof of any nature, do not have the minimum amount of honesty to regret in public from their former accusations when , one year later, justice sentenced that the proof simply did not exist. The same elements, in a kafkanian inversion, demand proof not only as pre-requisite to a investigative process (that is the target of any investigation) but as the condition required to ask an investigation, they reveal how hard is the perception in their hearts and minds in the belief that the law must be hard and demanding to their enemies and altruist and smooth to their own. This belief is the undeniable trace of a criminal mind"

Brazil is known as the land of Carnival. We like to use masks, but it´s time to take them off sometimes. We are used to believe in all kind of fairy tales, except the truth.
Only in Brazil that evidences are trade by wishfull thinking and the more reality bites, more people submerge deeper and deeper in their golden fantasies.
We do not need any "invisible" communist agent : we save their efforts, we paint them with evanescent ink ourselves. Only the fool can be fooled.

The sad ending of Fidel Castro:got busted giving money to big-banana president

Fidel Castro is in his all way down to decadance: in the sixties he was a big star on Mad magazine cover, by his strong anti-american position; Today he is on the cover of the main brazilian weekly magazine "Veja" because he gave away dollars to the brazilian president Lula campaing in 2002. In fact it was 3 million dollars hidden in bevarage boxes...

Comment: Far from the irony, this information is a real "bomb" and might explode worker's party and Lula da Silva expectation for next year. But it's a side effect derived from it. It proves that Lula da Silva is a real traitor of Brazil. He is not my president. He always acted as "São Paulo Forum" president instead of being the real President of Brazil.
Nowadays, it seems that all Latin America has just one man standing tall before his people: President Alvaro Uribe from Colombia.

Ban-Gun referendum: Brazil says "NO"

Today is a happy day in Brazil. Finally it seems that the battle is not totally lost.
There is something that's still alive behind decades of gramscian-lefty garbage spread by cultural influence agents.
The "NO" victory over the "YES" (the question was if "You agree with the total prohibition of firearms sales in Brazil?") is a smashing victory. Some exit polls rated it as 70%-30%. An outstanding victory.

But it was not what it seems only two months ago. At that time, some polls projected that "YES" will win over "NO" for more than 80% of the voters. What was involved was a group of powerfull groups: Major Media (TV Globo), Federal Government and even foreign entities like Ford Foundation, ONU and other NGO were figthing hard for "YES". But something gone wrong.

When the public campaign on tv started, people saw musicians, actors and famous-wannabes crying out platitudes or just stupidness towards guns ("guns kills", "it's the struggle between the macho-conservative old Brazil" - those who opted for "no" - "and the modern and democratic Brazil" - those who opted for "YES"). While the NO-supporters just fight for your right to buy and to keep a gun if you wanted - it's an universal right to defend ourselves in a time that government and police doesn´ t do their duties.

People started to get sick about those "shiny happy people" making the peace-dove symbol with their hands...

Nobody expected such change of public opinion. But it´ s done.

Those gramscian social-engineers at federal government had been defeated, at least for this time. But the battle is just begun?
I hope so.
Next year we have another presidential race. It is clear that this referendum got some Lula's Government trial colors.. Let's see.
I will keep to swimming against the red tide. It seems that next year, red's revenge could be harder....

President Lula: confessed guilty

President Lula da Silva, in a very well documented speech, showed no fear for revealing what´s his true motivation as Brazilian president: to help murders, tyrants, dictator-wannabes and red cocaine guerrilla leaders to take control over Latin America.
In fact, Lula has reassured his commitment to a foreign league of suspect nations (Venezuela, Cuba) and obscured left organizations known as "Foro de São Paulo" (Sao Paulo Forum) instead of his duty as President of Brazil.

It has just one name: Treason.


Philosopher Olavo de Carvalho has noted this, because the speech was not wide-spreaded among Brazilian media (of course not, they are part of the plan). Here´s the details:

"In celebration of the 15th anniversary of Sao Paulo Forum, the presidential speech on July , 2th that was reproduced by the o fficial government´s internet site (http://www.info.planalto.gov .br/download/discursos/pr812a .doc)
is a true confession of a conspiration against Brazilian national sovereignity, a graver crime than the whole corruption cases committed and hidden by his government; A crime that would justify not only an impeachment act but also putting him under arrest.

The meaning of these phrases , once detached from its verbal garbage container, is clearly hurtling:

'On the purpose of the Sao Paulo Forum, comrade Marco Aurelio has developing an extraordinary role on consolidating what we started in 1990. That was the way that we, in january 2003, proposed to our comrade President Chávez the creation of the "Group of Friends" to find out a peaceful solution that – thanks God – happened in Venezuela. And this only possible through political acts made by 'comrades'. It was not a State's political act from one to another or from a President to another. For those who remembered, Chávez participated in one of the meetings that took place in Havana. And thanks to this relationship it was possible to build , among many political divergences, the consolidation of what happened in Venezuela, by the 'referendum' that confirmed Chávez as President of Venezuela.

This was the way we could act inside other countries with our comrades from the social movement, political parties from those countries, from the union's syndicate movement: always using the relationship built at Sao Paulo's Forum to afford us to talk about it without people seeming it as any kind of political interference'

What is implicitly admitted above is:

1) Sao Paulo's Forum is a secret entity or at least it's hidden from the public.

2) This entity actively interfere on internal affairs of many Latin American nations, taking decisions and influencing the occurrences' way outside from the government, parliament, justice or public opinion overlooking.

3) The so called "Group of Friends of Venezuela" was nothing more than an arm, a façade agency of Sao Paulo Forum.

4) After was elected in 2002, Lula da Silva, at the same time that left his duty as Sao Paulo Forum President, seeming that he was free to lead Brazil government without any compromises with foreign alliances, kept working clandestinely to the forum, helping to produce results in Venezuela´s referendum in 2004.

5) The orientation of Brazil's foreign political were not decided by Lula - President of Brazil, but Lula – president of Sao Paulo Forum.

The president confessed that submitted the country to decisions took by foreign persons in an entity whose actions must not to be known nor to be understood by the Brazilian people".

But to those that thinks it is just a misunderstood statement, Lula added new clues to his treason this week, in a meeting with Communist Party of Brazil.

"Lula admitted to communists the he did not succeeded to implement big social changes defended by the Brazilian left because he is in a presidential regime that adopted a parliamentary constitution and not to have a majority on the congress. 'We are far from building the dream that we hoped for decades' added"

That meeting is the 11^th Communist Party of Brazil. This party still believe in the communist revolution. This party still supporting the Workers Party government. Lula acknowledges it and thanked the party's president for his loyalty.

If Lula's still president of Sao Paulo forum – cause still adopting their decisions, and if Lula still have support from the communists, where did the "transformation" of Workers Party go? Nowhere, it was just a marketing plan that, unfortunately, worked very well.

Worker's Party, The Sao Paulo Forum and the Communists are still in the fight to recover in Latin America what was lost in Eastern Europe and Russia. And Lula da Silva is their finest agent.

So help us God.

Reinaldo is the editor of a magazine/website called "Primeira Leitura" ("First Reading"). During Fernando Henrique Cardoso´s government, "Primeira.." used to be the spokenperson of brazilian main social-democrat party - PSDB. But since Lula da Silva was elected, it begun to swerved to the right and conservatism.

This text explain why we (the conservatives) are so depressed by the politics in Brazil.
I tottally agreed with except for the part that imposes the guilt for the dead in NO to GWB. But Reinaldo is brazilian and this is the regular thinking here...

Brazil: Disarming delinquents or the good people?

Brazil is going to prohibit the sales of firearms. It's another step towards socialism.

Is relevant to say that the carrying of firearms are already prohibited since 2004. This "referendum" is just to confirm if the sales has got to be the same ending.

The referendum is dividing the nation, but not the Main Stream Media: While southern states - like mine - the "NO" (yes, the question is confusing "Do you approve the prohibition the sales of firearms?") will win for a large margin; people who got the facts turns to "NO" too, the major opinion among "decision makers", newspapers, TV network is the opposite.
After a year with firearms sales prohibiton, with no descend in the crime rate index, when the reasons do not prove themselves, MSM, social analyzers, philosophers and other insist that "disarming" people is a "victory" for modernity over the "conservative", "violent", "macho", culture.


The left supports it for three reasons:

• Stalin, Hitler, Castro did it.
• It´s another marxist culture warfront against conservatism.
• The left see "penises" in every gun they see and they have to fight it.

Brazil: Disarming delinquents or the good people?

One hopes that common sense will prevail in the next referendum due to be held on the 23rd. October when voters will decide for or against the sale of firearms, remembering that if registered firearms in the hands of the public is to be considered against the law, then only outlaws will remain armed.

1. Next October 23rd. there will be a referendum in Brazil to decide whether or not to prohibit the sale of firearms and ammunition to individual members of the public. It is the first referendum of this nature to be held anywhere in the world. In 2003 Congress approved the Disarmament Law (Law nº 10.826 of 23rd. December 2003) which prohibits the carrying and use of firearms by individuals, even if the said firearms are registered with the local authorities, and thus made it even more difficult to possess firearms in ones home.

2. The Brazilian authorities allege that these prohibitions would decrease the high death rates by use of guns, which amount to about 40 thousand deaths per year. Although, according to some authorities, with statistics and common sense at hand, suggest that the use of illegal firearms account for these high figures rather than with legally registered firearms. But it can also be said that the Disarmament Law and the referendum to prohibit the commercialization of firearms and ammunition might provoke a negative result in disarming honest people, leaving individuals to their own fate with crooks, assailants, rapists and drug traffickers who will continue to be armed simply because their weapons are not registered anyway, anyway, as well as not having a fixed abode and are not, of course, concerned with laws. Quite apart from which, the State cannot control all public areas so that gangsters and robbers can be as free as wolves in a chicken run!

3. It is estimated that there are over 20 million illegal firearms in Brazil – mostly obtained thru robbery as well as contraband into the country – and some 2 million registered firearms. What the authorities should do is to increase security for the public's benefit and try to recuperate stolen weapons, and not impede the use of legally registered firearms. Over the past few years insecurity has increased tremendously in this gigantic and important South American country, with the Brazilian drug traffickers increasing their power and establishing alliances with the Colombian FARC drug barons and guerillas, also encamping Korean and Nigerian drug traffickers who have started to enter large Brazilian cities, and often characterized by use of extreme cruelty. Brazilian prisons are now notorious as "crime headquarters" and "crime schools" which teaches inmates how organized crime works.

As if this wasn't enough, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), are now financing and defending criminals rights using overseas donations, giving them legal aid so that they can escape Justice and obtain the smallest possible punishment or shorter prison terms. It is well-known that Brazilian leftists, including the so-called Catholic Left, on mass, defend prohibition of legally registered firearms. The pro-Cuban movement of rural workers without land (MST), responsible for a good many farm invasions and violence in rural areas, also favors in the plebiscite the prohibition of sale of firearms and ammunition which, should it that position win, will make them feel as wolves in a hen-house.

4. Serious problems surrounding public security cannot be resolved with the disarmament of honest, law-abiding citizens. Nor must we forget that violence has deeper reasons, overall moral causes, i.e., religious crisis which affects society, family, public, educational, ecclesiastical institutions, etc. And they are more important than economic problems.

5. International statistics show that there is not a relationship between assassination indexes and residences which possess firearms. In Brazil there are 27 homicides per 100 thousand inhabitants, and the percentage of residences with registered firearms is 3.5%. In the United States, for example, there are 6 homicides per 100 thousand inhabitants (4.5 times less) and the percentage of households with firearms is 52% (14 times more). In Italy there are 2 homicides per 100 thousand inhabitants (13 times less), and 17% with registered household firearms (4 times more). And likewise, one can detail these sort of figures in the same context and apply this to innumerous countries.

6. We hope that in Brazil, next 23rd. October, common sense will prevail and voters should remember that if firearms in the hands of law abiding citizens will become illegal, only outlaws will have firearms.

He now accuses his former company of having installed a vast corruption system in France and abroad. He talks about a Thalès lawyer who validated a vast bribery system in a lot of countries. 'There are 2 kind of countries: those where bribery is unavoidable (Africa, Korea, Greece, Italy) and those where you can do business without tampering (several European countries, North America, Australia, NZ). And France? It depends on local and national political interests.'

After my two last articles (here and here) some updates and repercussions must be done.

Second: I received some comments about that may be true that the assassination of Allende was perpetrated by Fidel and his agents in Chile but Allende was a democratic - even though socialist - president and represented no threat for democracy in Chile nor to US and  the military "coup" in 1873 was managed by US through CIA and even through Pinochet.

This is a lie! A worldwide-spread lie.

If he exceeded the legal rule to accomplish his duty, is another story, but the premise was that he was trying to obey a resolution of the Chilean Congressmen.

"It is true that Salvador Allende was elected President of Chile in 1970 by means of a democratic election (although with only 36.6% of the vote). Nevertheless, it is equally true that his government lost its democratic character by repeatedly violating the Constitution. The Economist said it clearly at the time: " The temporary death of democracy in Chile will be regrettable, but the blame lies clearly with Dr. Allende and those of his followers who persistently overrode the Constitution" (September 15, 1973).

In effect, President Allende became a tyrant when he broke his solemn oath to respect the Constitution and the Chilean laws. There are numerous evidences to that effect (including a clear statement of the Supreme Court), but the most important one--and widely unknown outside of Chile--is the momentous Agreement of 23 August 1973 of the Chamber of Deputies (the Lower House of the Chilean Congress), which I have translated and posted as "The Declaration of Breakdown of Chilean Democracy".

Editor's Note: This is the complete text of the resolution that Chile's Chamber of Deputies approved by 81 votes against 47, on August 22 1973. The resolution includes a list of the legal and constitutional violations committed by the Marxist government of President Salvador Allende. In the absence of a viable impeachment procedure contemplated in the Constitution, it "presents" the Armed Forces, among other authorities, with this "grave breakdown of the Republic's constitutional and legal order." Likewise, it serves to "remind them that, by virtue of their responsibilities, their pledge of allegiance to the Constitution, and to the laws of the land . . . it is their duty to put an immediate end to all situations herein referred to that breach the Constitution and the laws of the land." After this call to "immediate" action by the equivalent of the US House of Representatives or the UK House of Commons, the Chilean Armed Forces, led by the Army commander General Augusto Pinochet, decided on September 11, 1973—only 18 days later—to remove from office the President, thus charged with violating the Chilean Constitution. As Benjamin Franklin said, "Resistance to tyrants is obedience to God.")

The sad ending of Salvador Allende:finally discovered?

Salvador Allende did not commit suicide, nor died under the bullets of the military coup participants the 11th, September, 1973. During the assault against La Moneda palace, the president of Chile was cowardly assassinated by one of the Cuban agents who were in charge of their protection. While the military was bombing the place, the panic had seized among the president´s collaborators and he, in view of the desperate situation, had requested and obtained brief fire ceases and was, in the end, determined to stop all resistance. According to a witness of the facts, Allende, frightened by terror, ran by the corridors of the second floor of the palace shouting: "It is necessary to surrender". Before he could do it, Patricio de la Guardia, an agent of Fidel Castro and direct responsible of Chilean president´s security, waited Allende returned to his writing-desk and it shot him in the head with a machine-gun burst. Immediately, he put on the body of Allende a gun - making believe that he was murdered by the military attackers and returned in a rush to first floor of the flaming building where they waited for other Cubans to leave. The group left La Moneda palace in complete silence and after minutes took refuge in Cuba´s embassy, located near from the palace.



This version of the dramatic ending of Salvador Allende, who contradicts the two previous almost-official versions, either by Fidel Castro (the thesis of the heroic death in combat), or by the Chilean Military junta (the 'suicide' one), required only two old members of secret organisms Cuban - very informed about that bloody episode and today exiled in Europe- to com to life.



In a book that is finish publishing in Paris editor Plon Editions, entitled "Cuba Nostra, them secrets d'Etat of Fidel Castro", Alain Ammar, a journalist specialized in Cuba and Latin America, analyzes and confronts the declarations gave him by Juan Vives and Daniel Alarcón Ramirez, two ex- Cuban civil intelligence employees.

Exiled since 1979, Juan Vives is a former secret agent of the dictatorship and Osvaldo Dorticós Torrado´s nephew , the opereta´s Cuban president that reigned from 1959 to 1976, and "was forced to suicide" in dark circumstances in 1983. Vives told him that in November, 1973, in a bar at Habana Libre hotel, where some members of the security office used to meet on saturdays to drink beer and to interchange by informal ways rumours and information of all type, he listened the same story form the Patricio de la Guardia, head of the Cuban special troops present in La Moneda fatal september, 11th, 1973, that chilling confession.

During years, Vives did not want to present that information because , as he says, "it was dangerous to do it" and cause there was until that moment no other Cuban person in exile that could confirm the trustworthy featurer of those facts. When Ramirez knew that Daniel Alarcón, a.k.a "Benign" , one of the three survivors from the guerrilla of Ernesto Guevara in Bolivia, also was exiled in Europe, the idea to present those serious facts returned to gained force.

In the book of Alain Ammar, "Benign" confirms the whole Vives' story. Both knew Salvador Allende and his family. Both lived in Chile during Allende's government. Both listened, at different moments, the confession of the de la Guardia when they returned to Havana.



The book of Ammar accurately describes the last months of the "Unidade Popular" government and, mainly, it shows the advanced degree of direct control that Fidel Castro had managed to install -- by means of its hundreds of spies from the DGI (a Cuban service of intelligence), by means of its operators and implanted influence agents in Santiago --, on the Rescuing president Allende, his ministers and even his friends and more intimate collaborators. In fact, what they call "Chilean way to the socialism" had been turned aside by Castro until the point of even from within the Allende's government there were voices that criticized that brutal interference. Months before his death, Salvador Allende already "had been instrumentalized by Castro", explains Juan Vives. "But Allende he was not the man whom Havana wanted to be in charge in Santiago. Who Castro and Piñero [ right arm of Castroe in operations of espionage in Latin America, died recently in Cuba of a heart attack ] prepared for this, the body-guard of the same president Allende, were Miguel Henríquez, main leader of the MIR and Pascal Allende, number two at the MIR, just like Beatriz Allende, the daughter of the president, who also belonged to the MIR ". Beatriz will die in Cuba in 1974.



The control on the Chilean Chief of State had been become serious remarkably after the first attempt of military coup, the 29 of June of 1973, more known as "tancazo". When Havana knew that the Chileans who surrounded the president were scared, Fidel Castro let Allende know that he could not surrender in any case nor requesting asylum in an embassy. "If it had to die, it had to die like a hero. Any other attitude, cowardly and little brave, would have serious repercussions for the fight in Latin America ", remembers Juan Vives. For that reason Fidel Castro issued the order to Patricio de la Guardia "to eliminate Allende if he, in the last moment, surrendered to fear".



Shortly after the first attacks to La Moneda, Allende had said to Patricio de la Guardia that was about to request political asylum at Sweden embassy. The executive agent chief had even designated to Augusto Olive, his advisor of press, to do it. Probably for that reason Olive, a.k.a "perro" , also received and ultimatum by the Cubans before they closed batteries against the president of Chile. "Recruited by the Cuban DGI, Olive transmitted even the minimum thoughts of Allende to Piñeiro, that, as well, informed to Fidel", Juan Vives declared.



Another Chilean body-guard of Allende , a certain Agustín, also "was shot" by the Cubans at those dramatic moments, according to the declaration by "Benigno" to the author of the book. Weeks after the coup d'etat, Patricio de la Guardia had revealed, in effect, to "Benigno" the ending of Agustín, brother of a friend of him that still lives in Cuba, and it had given another important detail to him on the happening during that tragic morning in the palace of La Moneda: before the machine-gunning, the Cuban agent had grabbed Salvador Allende by force, who wanted to come out form the palace, and he had seated him on the presidential armchair shouting to him: "a president dies in his site".



The version of the point-blank shot of Allende was not absolutely stranger. At Septembed, 12th, 1973 several agencies, among them the AFP , summarized in four lines that fact. Published on the following day by Le Monde the cable said: "According to sources of the Chilean right, president Allende was killed by his personal guard at moments at which he requested five minutes of cease of fire to surrender to the military who were on the verge of entering the palace of La Moneda". Ammar indicates that this hypothesis "was immediately buried" because it was not profitable to anybody: "neither to the collaborators of Allende, nor to the Chilean left, nor to his friends abroad, nor to the military nor, mainly, to Fidel Castro...".



The confirmation that, until recently, this "hypothesis" received from Juan Vives and Daniel Alarcón Ramirez could be reinforced in the future by the testimonies of other silenced Cuban civil employees and by documents that are outside Cuba. In effect, in a bank of Panama the masterful piece of this magnicidio would rest. According to the authors of the book, Patriciode la Guardia, who was condemned to thirty years in jail during the process-farce against major general Arnaldo Ochoa Sanchez, and in residence vigil today, would have deposited a compromissing document in the coffer of a Panamanian bank which describes, among other things, the assassination of Allende by order of Castro, in a text that would have to be revealed in case of death of Patricio de la Guardia. Fidel Castro, according to the authors of the book, would have taken this threat very seriously and it caused Patricio to escaped to the execution, unlike Tony, his brother, that along with general Ochoa and two other civil employees of the Department of the Interior, were shot at July/13/1989.



The revelation of what happened to Salvador Allende is not interesting solely for the historians of the calamitous adventure of the Unidade Popular in Chile. It is interesting too, for the new Latin American friends of Fidel Castro, specially for Venezuela president Hugo Chávez. Hugo Chávez and others, the more reliable are them for Havana, just like had been president Allende - at least in the papers - could be being now object of identical kind ofr control and political domination by the same services that built so beastly against the president of Chile. The book of Alain Ammar approaches, in its 425 pages, many other subjects and episodes related to complicated and not always successful secret operations of Havana in Cuba and several countries. It is expected that a translation to the Spanish of that useful book could be quickly in bookstores (and english too).

A new book, about to be published in France "Cuba Nostra - Les Secrets D'Etat de Fidel Castro" by Alain Ammar has destroyed a very-well constructed myth by the left: The assassination of Salvador Allende in Chile while he was being toppled by Augusto Pinochet. This article by Eduardo Mackenzie (updated: it was translated by me to Media Without Mask website) has a brief on the book.

Allende was frightened by the military and wanted to surrender. Before he could do this, he was killed.

It´s the second major attack on this leftist myth this month!

Early this month a new book by KGB archivist Vasili Mitrokhin revealed that Allende, and other leftist leaders in Latin America received money from KGB.

"• The KGB documents record actual and proposed payments to Chile's Salvador Allende totaling $420,000 both before and after his election as president in 1970.

• Costa Rica's José ''Pepe'' Figueres received $300,000 from the KGB for his 1970 presidential campaign and $10,000 afterward.

• Carlos Fonseca, founder of Nicaragua's Sandinista National Liberation Front, was ''a trusted KGB agent'' code-named GIDROLOG.

• Nicaraguan Manuel Andara y Úbeda was a KGB agent who led a group of Sandinistas tasked by Moscow in the late 1960s to scoop out the U.S. border with Mexico for possible targets for KGB sabotage teams.

• The KGB ''trained and financed'' the Sandinistas who seized the National Palace in Managua and dozens of hostages in 1978. A senior KGB official was briefed on the plan on the eve of the raid, led by Edén Pastora, also known as Commander Zero. "

It's the end to these old-time leftist myths in LA?
No. These events were not EVEN mentioned by Brazilian media.
Here in Brazil, we are still wearing Che Guevara shirts and believing in the holy santity of Salvador Allende.

Lula's Demise

Brazil's President Lula da Silva is immersed in a seemingly endless corruption scandal; his once larger-than-life reputation has been reduced to tatters. The significance of this is not negligible: Lula has become an emblem of the post-Cold War left with his combination of conservative fiscal and monetary policies and big social programs targeting the poor.

A breathtaking sequence of revelations involving the government and Lula's Workers' Party—beginning with the confession by opposition legislator Roberto Jefferson that he had received bribes for his vote in Congress—has brought to the surface a vast scheme of bribes to legislators and irregular methods of party financing.

The conventional wisdom was that, despite his radical Marxist roots and occasional concessions to his political base, Lula represented a healthy move away from the old left and toward the emergence of a new model for underdeveloped nations similar to Europe's social democracy. Many thought this model would have a moderating effect on the left across the continent and hold Hugo Chávez in check.

However, Lula's capacity to reinvent the left always hinged on something more than keeping interest rates high to stem inflation, maintaining a strong currency, riding on the high prices of certain commodities, and giving cash to poor families. He could either opt for simply managing the perpetual crisis or he could try to overhaul a labyrinthine political system that benefited certain pockets of industrial and agricultural production but keeps millions of people out of the realm of opportunity. He chose the former path.

While technocrats talk about a three percent rate of economic growth for Brazil this year and an export boom that has translated into a trade "surplus" of $40 billion, Lula's voters are indignant at the corruption scandal. But the real point is that corruption has developed naturally in an environment of limited opportunities due to asphyxiating government interference. And the absence of adequate limits on the power of the political bureaucracy is in turn an incentive for corruption at the top level. The corruption of Lula's government, therefore, should be seen more as a symptom than a cause. Ranting about corruption without removing the causes will only generate further frustration. Brazilians impeached President Collor de Mello in the 1990s but failed to change a system that ensured a party like Lula's would fall into the same trap years later.

Brazil has often been a bellwether of Latin American political currents. It exemplified French-style authoritarian positivism in the early 20th century, centrally planned industrialization in the 1960s and 1970s, and democracy in the 1980s. (It was not, however, one of the leading nations in the so-called free market reform wave of the 1990s). Lula's demise is now strengthening the more radical left, which has been quick to blame what is happening on the President's "betrayal" of his Marxist origins. The rest of the Latin American left is watching.

Widespread corruption in underdeveloped countries is a symptom of the cost of the law and the weakness of the legal framework. If laws are burdensome and costly to follow, and there is no reliable system for enforcing contracts, corruption becomes a sort of insurance policy. As legal scholar Richard Posner has written, "nepotism, clientelism, and bribery become substitutes for contract when the enforcement of contract is undependable". Over an extended period of time, corruption becomes a culture.

The latest "Doing Business" report by the World Bank shows that an average domestic company with fewer than 100 employees in Brazil would have to pay 148 percent of its annual profits in order to comply with all its taxes. A medium-sized company must spend 2,600 hours just in order to pay them.

It is not surprising that regulations and taxes have taken on a life of their own in Brazil, where the structure of government includes more than 5,500 autonomous municipalities, 10 million civil servants and a multitude of supposedly decentralized but really overlapping layers of bureaucracy competing for a piece of the action. Although this labyrinth has one positive aspect—it makes centralized decisions difficult to implement—it is totally impractical for reform-minded people.

Lula thought that as long as he kept macroeconomic stability and continued with his "Bolsa Familia" program—a conditional cash transfer that gives 50 dollars to each of 7 million families in exchange for making sure their children go to school—"social justice" would flow. Judging by the lack of investment at all levels of the economy, most Brazilians clearly did not agree. Prosperity requires a massive de-politicization of the prevailing system so that entrepreneurship can flourish. In the absence of that, it is not hard to see why Lula's government became so corrupt.

Olavo de Carvalho, a Brazilian writer, recently remarked at a conference in Washington DC that "corruption is deeply rooted in the Worker's Party not as a vulgar way for personal moneymaking but as a technical instrument to erode the moral basis of the capitalistic society and fund the revolutionary strategy". How ironic that the man who was to save Latin America from old-style socialism is helping revive it.
